GOG is offering Worms Forts: Under Siege for free for the next three days

This is actually the second time GOG is offering a free game in a single week and while I don't know what prompted them to start doing so I can't say I'll complain much.

Today they are offering Worms Forts: Under Siege, a 3D variant of the classic Worms games. The promotion is set to last for three days after which the game returns to it regular price.

This Week In PC Gaming is a series of articles where I'll showcase you everything that happened the past week and give you easy access to further information

This Week In PC Gaming is an easy way to catch up with all of the news that you might have missed the past week, organized in such a way that you can get a brief overview on all of the stories and from there you can find more information on those you are interested in.

Given that Christmas season is fast approaching there were a lot of announcements and updates happening all throughout the week so this first pilot article is going to be a content-packed one. With that said, let's jump right in:

I question Valve's testing methods and give my opinion on how it should be done

If you've been paying attention to the PC based news sits the past few days you would have noticed the utter confusion many, including me, felt after Valve added the R8 revolver in CS:GO's Winter Update.

Even my relatively mediocre self after 10 minutes of play could see that the gun was busted, yet it still launched along with the rest of the patch to a crowd of around 700k daily CS:GO users. Why was this allowed to happen?

7 Days to Die update brings massive changes to the game, adding things like HD zombies, dismemberment and more

When 7 Days To Die first came on to Steam Early Access it seemed like a game that was trying to cash in on the Minecraft phenomena as well as the open world zombie survival one. After seeing its first gameplay videos show off some incredibly dumb zombies and dated graphics I assumed the worst and swiftly forgot all about it.

Turns out I shouldn't have because 7 Days to Die has been updated both frequently and extensively, and right now looks nothing like the game I saw a long time ago. One such massive update has arrived yesterday bringing with it an absolutely ridiculous list of changes that contains, among others, HD zombies, dismemberment, a new UI, heat/cold survival system, more item, weapons and a lot more.

This Fallout 4 mod allows you to add any mod to your weapons resulting in some crazy combinations

Its been a rather slow news day today so I decided to pop in to Fallout 4 and install a few mods, see if I can freshen the game up after playing it for over 50 hours.

And you know its going to be an interesting play session when the first mod I've come upon is "Any Mod Any Weapon" which, as you might deduce, allows you to shove any mod in to any weapon with hilarious results.

UnderRail, a Fallout inspired Isometric RPG is leaving Early Access on December 18th

The old Fallout and DnD RPGs defined my childhood so when UnderRail showed up on Early Access some three years ago I was instantly drawn to it. Ironically enough it was the rather plain graphics the game had back then that really got my attention, my reasoning being that if they decided to release an Early Access game looking like that they must've had a deep and complex game beneath it. As it so turns out, I was right.

Now, three years later the graphics have been much improved, along with everything else, and UnderRail is getting ready for its release on December 18th.

Star Citizen Alpha 2 update brings multi-crew ships, FPS combat and space walking.

I might disagree with Star Citizen's business model of selling ships for real money but I can't deny how good they've been with the game's development. Frequent updates and constant communication are probably one of the main reasons Star Citizen is closing in on $100 million in funding, which as far as crowdfunding numbers go is out of this world.

Today's big update, simple titled Alpha 2.0, is bringing with it multi-crew ships, precision maneuvering, FPS combat, EVA (read as spacewalking) and a big ol' space station to explore. Mind you, Star Citizen is nowhere near finished but what they do have on display seems quite good.

This War of Mine update brings mod support and allows users to edit the entire game

As you might have noticed previously I am a big fan of modding, I believe they extend a game's lifespan way past what it would normally be and they tend to fix almost every issue I have with a game.

So it is with a smile on my face that I'm here to tell you that the very depressing This War of Mine now has full mod support. You can create and edit anything from items and weapons to scenarios and locations themselves.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is a truly strange game, but it is free on GOG right now

I've tried Giants: Citizen Kabuto once before and let me tell you, despite playing it, I still have no idea what this game is supposed to be about exactly. It has space marines, sea witches, Kaiju, base building, tons of humor and both first person and third person shooting. How do you even begin to describe such a thing?

While it didn't sell well when it first released, Giants: Citizen Kabuto became a bit of a cult classic over the years. And given that its currently free on GOG I'd suggest you go and pick it up, you might enjoy its strange charms.

Path of Exile Talisman Update brings new items, bosses, leagues and much more

I've professed my love for all things Path of Exile quite clearly when they first announced their Ascendancy expansion, and while this update isn't the much awaited expansion it does bring with it a whole boatload (which only works as an analogy if you think of big boats, so do that) of new stuff.

In the update released today you can expect to see a whole new type of item, the incredibly powerful talismans, as well as new skills, items, bosses and so much more. Most importantly, with the update came two new leagues with their own self-sustained economies so if you wanted to try POE while being on even footing with the veterans, now is the time.
