[Update #2]: And some bad news too! Broken Roads has been delayed until early 2024 in order to ensure it launches as well polished as it can be.

[Update]: Good news! Broken Roads will be heading over to PC and Xbox on November 14, 2023!

Inspired by oldschool classics like Fallout and Baldur's Gate, as well as more modern games like Disco Elysium, the upcoming Broken Roads is a heavily story-focused RPG set in a post-apocalyptic version of Australia. As you might imagine given its influences, Broken Roads will have you chat up a variety of unique characters, undertake quests that can be solved in different ways depending on your character's philosophical leanings, explore a hand-crafted world in search of secrets or good ol' fashioned loot, and naturally, fight against all sorts of enemies in turn-based combat.

What all of this looks like in action, as well as what sort of atmosphere Broken Roads is going for, that you can find out through the recent gameplay trailer. Have a gander:

It's also worth mentioning that Broken Roads will be using a bit of a different morality system than usual. Instead of a simple good vs evil gradient, Broken Roads will have your actions constantly shift your alignment on a 360-degree chart based on four areas of moral philosophy: uitilitarianism, nihilism, machiavellianism and humanism. The goal is to create a system where you can choose an evil option immediately followed by a noble one, and have that still make sense for your character and their outlook on life.

Whether all of that will pan out in the end, we'll have to wait a little while to find out as Broken Roads still has no concrete release date. That said, you can expect to see it land onto PC and consoles at some point in 2023.

Once more information becomes available I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a teeny-weeny bit more about Broken Roads over at Steam. Enjoy!
