[Update #2]: Darktide's Update 1.1.10 is aiming to add Cross-play and an elite-focused modifier for missions.
[Update]: Darktide's Rejects Unite patch has now arrived, and unfortunately it has done so alongside some serious technical issues.
Back in January Darktide developer Fatshark suspended work on new content, new microtransactions and the Xbox version in an effort to focus on some much-needed fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Quite a few months and updates have gone by since then, and while features like crafting still need a lot of polish, Darktide is thankfully in a much better place right now.
Things are going to get even better soon as Fatshark has just announced that a sizable content update that will be dropping next week! The Rejects Unite update includes two new maps (‘Archivum Sycorax’ located in Throneside and ‘Ascension Riser 31’ located in Transit Hub), the long-awaited Chaos Spawn boss, a bunch of new cosmetics (both paid and free), and with a bit of luck, some nifty balance changes as well.

If you're a fan of story-focused RPGs and you've somehow managed to avoid giving Fallout: New Vegas a try all of these years, consider this the perfect chance to rectify that mistake. I say this because the Epic Games Store is currently giving away Fallout: New Vegas - Ultimate Edition, which is the complete package, for free!
The one catch, as always, is the time limit. You only have until June 1st to add Fallout: New Vegas to your account, though once you've done that you'll be able to play it whenever you want and for however long you want.

[Update #2]: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be getting new dungeons and the legendary Icecrown Citadel raid on October 10.
[Update]: World of Warcraft: Classic has now launched Hardcore servers, and I'm happy to say they're quite fun!
WoW tokens are items that can be purchased with real money and then sold to other players for in-game gold. Those that purchase the tokens with gold can then use them to either add 30 days of game time to their subscription, or to simply add a portion of the value to their Battle.Net balance that can be used to purchase Activision Blizzard games.
The reason this is relevant is because a recent and completely unannounced update added these WoW Tokens to Wrath of the Lich King Classic. This, unsurprisingly, did not go over well with the community who saw the addition of WoW Tokens as Blizzard essentially legitimizing gold selling - an issue that has been plaguing the classic version of WoW for a very long time now.

[Update]: The Karak Azgaraz maps have now arrived, and while they're a bit buggy, they're also quite fun!
Even though the last update containing a brand new map landed a mere two months ago, the Vermintide 2 team is already getting ready to unleash a sizable new update! Once it arrives this June 13th for PC (and Summer 2023 for consoles), the Karak Azgaraz update will bring with it three remastered levels from the original game, along with a whole suite of new challenges and cosmetics to seek out. Most importantly, it's all going to be free!
The exact details behind the new levels are currently still few and far between, but if the previous remasters are any judge, I think it's safe to say that the Karak Azgaraz levels won't be a simple "copy & paste" job. Instead, I'm fully expecting to see a bunch of new locations, new setpieces, and perhaps even a couple of big twists to really shake up the formula and take things in an unexpected direction.

[Update]: The System Shock Remake has now arrived, and it's looking quite good so far!
It took far longer than anyone, even the developers themselves, could've expected, but System Shock's long and eventful journey is now finally coming to an end. As long as everything goes according to plan, the much-anticipated System Shock Remake will be unleashed onto PC next week, on May 30th! The console versions are also on the way, though those ones don't have a concrete release date just yet.
While the new System Shock will follow the same sort of gameplay formula as the original, you can expect to see quite a few differences between the two games as this is a remake rather than a remaster. Most notably, the System Shock Remake will come with completely new HD visuals, revamped controls, a modern interface, a new hacking system, a bunch of new enemies and locations to mess around with, and naturally, plenty of quality-of-life improvements and fixes to make everything a bit smoother.

When Total War: Pharaoh was leaked a couple of days ago pretty much everyone assumed it would be a part of the Saga cycle of Total War games - kind of like Thrones of Britannia or Troy. Now that it has been properly announced, however, it looks like Total War: Pharaoh will be a mainline entry in the series and a fully-fledged historical grand strategy game to boot! And yes, this sadly does mean that all of the mythological stuff is out... at least for the time being.
Set during the Bronze Age Collapse, Total War: Pharaoh will put you in the shoes of eight faction leaders spread across three unique cultures: Egypt, Canaan and the Hittite empire. From there you'll need to gather territory through diplomacy or brutality, slowly build up and evolve your empire, forge all sorts of alliances, and naturally, crush anyone that dares defy you through large-scale RTS battles. In other words, Pharaoh is indeed going to be a Total War game!

[Update #2]: All cards for MTG Arena's The Lord of the Rings crossover set have now been revealed.
[Update]: MTG Arena has now banned Fable, Bankbuster and Invoke Despair in order to shake up Standard.
It took a genuinely surprising number of years for us to get here, but the day has finally come! MTG Arena, Magic: The Gathering's slick and modern digital adaptation, has now made its way onto Steam.
Much like the standalone version, the Steam re-release of MTG Arena uses the free-to-play model and gives you access to all of the various game modes and formats from the very beginning. As a new player you'll likely need a couple of months of regular play in order to build up a somewhat competitive collection, but once you're established it should be fairly easy to keep up with the new additions. This goes doubly so if you're a fan of the tournament-like formats as those let you snag extra packs and currency through prizes.

[Update #2]: World of Warcraft's Update 10.1.5 has arrived with a new mega-dungeon, Evoker Augmentation specialization and a lot more.
[Update]: Wrath of the Lich King Classic has added the WoW Token, and the community isn't happy about it.
It's only been a few short weeks since World of Warcraft's Update 10.1 arrived with a whole bunch of new content to mess around with, and already Blizzard has revealed their plans for more. Best of all, despite being a relatively minor patch in the grand scheme of things, Update 10.1.5 - Fractures in Time looks like it'll really shake things up!
First and foremost, Fractures in Time will bring with it a third Evoker specialization - Augmentation. This is going to be a new ranged DPS specialization, but with a twist! By using the combined might of the Black and Bronze dragonflights, Augmentation Evokers will be able to greatly amplify the abilities and combat prowess of nearby allies. They'll still be able to fight things on their own, so don't worry about open-world content being inaccessible, though Augmentation as a specialization will definitely shine the most in group activities where it'll act as a powerful force multiplier.

[Update]: The next giveaway has now arrived, and this time around it's the truly excellent story-focused RPG Fallout: New Vegas.
If you're curious about Hideo Kojima's take on the whole 'walking simulator' genre and you've somehow managed to avoid giving Death Stranding a try all this time, consider this your lucky day... or perhaps unlucky depending on when you happen to stumble upon this article. In either case, the PC version of Death Stranding is currently free to grab over at the Epic Games Store.
As always, there is a bit of a catch, and that would be the time limit. In this case the giveaway will only be live until May 25th, so do make sure to snag yourself a copy before it goes back to its regular price. You don't even need to install it right now - just add it to your account and you'll be able to play it whenever you want and for however long you want.

If you're like me and you have fond memories of the ancient Lemmings puzzle/strategy series, you might want to check out the freshly released Humanity. Much like its inspiration, Humanity is all about trying to prevent a horde of people with absolutely no survival instincts from accidentally flinging themselves off cliffs, running face-first into traps, or simply slamming their heads into walls because the very notion of having to think on their own terrifies them.
In order to get everyone to safety you'll need to micromanage just about every step of their journey. This includes deciding when they should turn around, jump, activate switches, and so forth. It's a very simple system to understand since you're only ever issuing the most basic of commands, though don't let this lull you into a false sense of security as you'll frequently need to get multiple moving pieces working in unison in order to transport everyone safely to the end.
